CUPPING
(see video at bottom of this page)
For centuries, cupping therapy has been a highly valued treatment in many societies throughout the world.
The use of cupping declined last century as the new scientific approach to medicine became established.
Cupping is now enjoying a strong resurgence in popularity as science is starting to show us how it works and more
People, including Australian Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes and therapists are rediscovering how effective it can be
How Cupping Works Cupping is basically very simple - a partial vacuum is created in specially designed vessels that are placed on the area to be treated.
The cups may be left in place for about 5 to 20 minutes or moved over the skin to give a suction massage. Other techniques include passive or active stretching or other movements performed while cups are in place.
Cupping can be remarkably effective on tight and sore muscles and can often bring relief that is not possible using conventional massage.
